I spent some time at the Reno Rodeo in the summer of 1994 just sketching. This piece came out of that. 18x24, watercolor pencils on charcoal paper. I wasn't happy with it at all ... still not. Looks like I couldn't decide whether to take my normal painterly route or to work on a detailed study ... and it just seems visually lost to me. It did however win a state art show that year. Somehow.
