Test prep and paint ...

I spent an hour or so earlier this week prepping a gold sheet of metal (gold reflective aluminum plate) with a homemade clear gesso.  This morning I started to apply thin washes of acrylics.  Honestly, I didn't like how it was turning out.  Since the metal has no inherent absorption, the washes laid on top and dried in almost bubble-like ringlets.  So I scraped it off and started again. This time I'm using a small filbert to apply strokes of heavier color (not necessarily to the degree of impasto) and making sure that I allow some of that gold to gleam through. Its turning out better than I originally expected for a test like this.  We'll see how it finishes.  My main concern is any flaking of the paint on this surface.  I may or may not need to hit it with a varnish or fixative when al is said and done.
