Well, the judging was last week. I ended up with one ribbon (honorable mention) out of the three pieces I entered. No disappointment, as I refuse to put pressure on myself about these things anymore. It was a really good show. Some very nice work. There was also a fair amount of mediocre work, but far less than normal. But as I looked around, I thought I was seeing an odd trend. Speaking with the manager afterwards, it was confirmed. The judge is an architectural painter, and the majority of ribbons were awarded to paintings and photos with buildings in them. My ribbon-winner?... a landscape with a church. Weird. I think I'd like to start seeing a panel of 3 judges with these big shows.
