Back to basics ...

I realize I've been treating my watercolor painting as if they were oils. Its even something I'm conscious of as I'm working. I try to stay loose and fast, but inevitably go back to old habits. So tonight I went back even farther than that and reverted to painting with the brush. Strictly monochrome. I learned more about handling the pigment this way and truly enjoyed myself.

This is from a reference photo of an angel statue in a local cemetery. The shadows were just right for a study like this.  17.5in x 5.5in, watercolor on 140cp.
