Too hot ...

I took my french easel up and over the hill for an afternoon of painting the canyon and steam train. Its not much of a walk really ... maybe a quarter of a mile. However I'm so far out of practice in plein air that I forgot a few necessities: hat, drinking water, sunscreen. Hell, even an umbrella would have been nice. The watercolor pigments dried too fast for any real painting to be done and the harsh sunlight really got to me. I settled for a quick sketch instead. I spent no more than an hour in total between set up and all. I think I may have to stay indoors for the summer and work, or perhaps a couple of quick jaunts up to Lake Tahoe and into the shade.
